When Is It OK To Lie?

Throughout my working life as a Police Detective I experienced lies and deception in our society not only among criminals but also by those in authority who were charged with upholding Justice and Truth. When I retired and became a Community Counsellor and School Governor I thought that had been put behind me but again I found lies and deceit in the management of my County Council. I became a Christian Pastor and I thought again all that had gone only to find that much of our Church history is coloured by lies, deceit and violence. I have come to the conclusion that Gods Laws have been opposed throughout history and are still being opposed at every level and in every organisation within society.”

The above quote is the opening paragraph of a blog written by Christians for Zion director Mike Fryer.

And here’s a quote from Mike’s fellow Christians for Zion blogger Chris Proudlove,

“Resolution 242, passed by the UN Security Council following the war, gave implicit recognition to Israeli territorial conquests… “

The above is a lie.  The UN gave absolutely no recognition to “Israeli territorial conquests”.

From the preamble of UNSC resolution 242,

The Security Council,

Expressing its continuing concern with the grave situation in the Middle East,

Emphasizing the inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by war and the need to work for a just and lasting peace in which every State in the area can live in security,”

And here’s a quote attributed to Lord Caradon,

“Knowing as I did the unsatisfactory nature of the 1967 line I was not prepared to use wording in the Resolution which would have made that line permanent. Nevertheless it is necessary to say again that the overriding principle was the “inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by war” and that meant that there could be no justification for annexation of territory on the Arab side of the 1967 line merely because it had been conquered in the 1967 war.”

So is it wrong to lie except in cases where you lie on behalf of Israel on your blog, Mssrs Fryer and Proudlove?

I note that Trevor does not give the context in which he quotes me. However it can be said that U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright told the U.N. Security Council: “We simply do not support the description of the territories occupied by Israel in 1967 as ‘Occupied Palestinian Territory’”
Again, U.N. members ignore the San Remo Treaty which gives settler rights to Jews in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza. This treaty has not been superseded and to ignore it is a gross betrayal of international law.
Trevor is quick to say ‘lie’ even though facts can be disputed. I have been mistaken in my views. How about you Trevor? Can you stand to be corrected?

  3. The context is clear.

“Resolution 242, passed by the UN Security Council following the war, gave implicit recognition to Israeli territorial conquests… ”

The above is a lie. If this was the first time you had said such a thing i’d call you mistaken, but it is not the first time and i have previously shown you that it was a false claim and yet you still repeat such nonsense. Tell me, have you removed your false claim from the CfZ website?

At one time or another we all make mistakes or get fooled into believing lies. But when you have been shown that something is a lie and you keep repeating the lie then we must ask why?

If there is any misleading information on any of these pages then please point it out to me and i’ll check it out and if wrong i’ll rectify it/them.

But please, no Hasbara sources unless backed up with links to valid documentation.

  4. ”Resolution 242, passed by the UN Security Council following the war, gave implicit recognition to Israeli territorial conquests… ”

I’ll as k again. Have you removed your false claim from the CfZ website?

  5. I note that your totally despicable lie is still visible on your blog.

Dont you have any respect for your fellow “Christians” or are you happy that they’ll actually believe your despicable lie?

  6. Have you removed your blatant and disgraceful lie yet, Chris?

  7. It’s noted that the lie Chris told is still on the CfZ website.

  8. The lie is still on the CfZ website.

    Why?
